Elise + Dennis' Wedding - Minimalist and Bright

There is nothing I love more than a couple that loves each other as well as great food and design. Although Elise and Dennis didn’t reach out until a few months before their wedding, it always surprises my couples how much left there is to do. Luckily, we all seemed to be on the same page on the direction for the big day. The bride wanted soft tones punched with some bright colours in the florals. Although the entire day would include some of their Italian roots in the food provided by Buca Restaurant, the day would mostly just reflect them as an urban Toronto couple. They chose the downtown Toronto venue of The Great Hall that provided lots of natural light so that the photographer, Scarlet O’Oneill, couple capture the day beautifully. The ceremony focused on a whimsical and deconstructed baby’s breath installation surrounded by modern sleek chairs for their closest 120 guests. After the ceremony, guests were welcomed upstairs on the mezzanine for apps and drinks while overlooking the reception that was receiving the final touches with candles being lit and florals being tweeted. After appies, the guests came down to the beautifully cozy reception area. Everyone got to sit nice and close for a. family-style dinner service that was beyond words! After an amazing meal, it only had to be followed by some amazing live music! The band played into the night and the couple got to sneak out for one last mini-shoot with the photographer to wrap up the night! What a beautiful day it was with some positive energy. I always love working at this venue and this day was no different.

Sending all my love to the newlyweds and their families!

Jenn + Andy's Vibrant Fall Wedding

Have you ever gone to a party where you weren’t officially invited as a guest but you tagged along but somehow you felt right at home? Well this is exactly how it felt at Jenn and Andy’s wedding! Everyone else was of course invited as a guest and I was just there as a vendor but the entire night was just so fun and their guests were also equally fun! From the second I met these two, I felt the chemistry not only between them but the love just filled the room they walked into. What can I say? I fell for them. No in all seriousness, this wedding was just a dream to be apart of!

The wedding theme definitely played off the natural elements of the room - accents of gold and warm mauves and reds (also in the stage drapery), vintage feel like a modern spin. The florals included lots of trailing greenery and bud vases to maximize table space while giving the room an intimate and fun feeling. Their adorable pups was of course there to join them in the processional - absolutely the cutest! One of my favourite moments of the day was keeping the special performance secret from the couple themselves! They had a song by Wax Mannequin (don’t worry I hadn't heard of him either) as their processional… and he came out and actually performed that song live! On top of that, he stayed for dinner just ‘cause… amazing!

Thank you to this lovely couple that make this process so fun! The love between all your guests and between both of you is infectious. Wishing you all the best!

City Rustic Wedding at Malaparte

Shannon & Matthew's Beautiful Rooftop Wedding

Colour palette: Jade green, navy blue, grey, white & gold
Style: Modern & rustic

After meeting, Shannon and Matthew, I knew I would have fun planning their big day with them! Shannon was meticulously organized and knew exactly what she wanted but such a dream to work with. She wanted to bring a little countryside styling to the urban setting of their rooftop wedding. We made sure to utilized all the beautiful spaces the guests got to explore from the bright lobby where we set up a selfie backdrop with laser-cut names of the couple, the stunning white rooftop tent ceremony, the outdoor elevated cocktail area and the sleek sloped ceilings of the main reception room.

We added the rustic flair to the trailing ribbon on the bouquets, the grey textured linens, the wood box centrepiece containers, the harvest wood chairs, garlands on the guest tables, the dessert station decor, the succulent favours and the home-made cookie favours.

You could see how Toronto's modernity was infused into the wedding as well from the cocktail furniture, the gold cutlery, modern letterpress invitations, the immaculate food and the view from Malaparte's rooftop of King Street West.

One of my favourite details was the fact that the bride, Shannon, actually made the entire dessert table and the cookie desserts.. that didn't last past salads!

Thank you for trusting me on your wedding day and I wish you both all the best!
