Hotel weddings may give you the mental image of a cold, sterile room with tacky carpeting and a buffet. Well maybe that’s just me! Unlike most weddings, this city wedding at Broadview Hotel on the east end of the city was modern, chic and full of thoughtful design - I mean it was built inside what used to be a strip club!
When both the bride and groom work in the film industry and are just overall creative souls - you just know you’re going to have one phenomenal wedding on your hands! From the beginning, I loved bouncing ideas with Ash & Keaton about their big day. Ashley was so ready for this day - always having her white binder in hand with notes and DIY ideas. Unlike some other brides, she was determined to get all her DIY projects underway! The groom built the entire arbor the week before the wedding and the bride put together…
all the marble-effect vases for the floral arrangements
hand-written menus with deckled edging
gold-foiled deckled place cards
bar signage
acrylic table numbers
On the day of the wedding, I could feel their palpable butterflies and excitement for the day to get underway. Despite the slightly chilly weather (and storm warning), the day went pretty much perfectly!
Some of my favourite elements of the day other than the beautiful DIY items were…
the stunning florals!
the bride’s killer dress with smoky grey undertone
black and gold cutlery
the smoky grey linen tablecloths
the boho alter with cacti, lanterns and rug
their epic custom neon sign of their names!
At the end of the night, the security guard said, “You did such a great job! I have never seen a wedding planner not only be on time but early! I have also never seen a planner be so calm, not breaking a sweat or yelling at anyone!” Pretty sure that was just the cherry on top of a beautiful night. I’m going to miss working with these two but at least I’ll have photos to remind me one of my all-time favourite weddings!
Congrats to you both and your extended families!
