Most definitely one of my favourite weddings of last year was Haydee and Errol’s. The couple came to me with a clear idea for a bright, summery wedding theme and I was so excited! The venue set in the middle of the charming Distillery District, The Fermenting Cellar, is one of my favourites with its high ceilings, industrial walls and huge open space. Our main goal was to add warmth into the venue for their big day so we added lots of golden accents surrounded by blush and pops of hot pink.
A true romantic, Haydee, chose an A-line gown that made her seem to float or perhaps it was just her excitement that the day was finally here. Her bright bridal bouquet by Flower 597 was perfect for her dress, theme and colour palette. Hand calligraphy added that extra touch of elegance and whimsy to the invitations and day-of stationery by Paula Lee. This stationery set is still one of my favourites to date with all its hand-illustrated flowers in black and white!
Being highschool sweethearts, Errol and Haydee had been through many amazing experiences together. They wanted to incorporate many details that showed their personality as a couple. There are so many special customs involved in planning a Filipino wedding and I’m so glad they wanted to incorporate these traditions including the Money Dance and the Catholic ceremonial traditions. They also had a slideshow during dinner about their many happy years together and glimpses into their travels around the world.
Rows of bright pink floral centrepieces and a lush garland adorned the tables. Perfectly placed chandeliers and lots of candles romantically lit the space and highlighted the head table. The newlywed couple were also framed by the existing architecture of the Fermenting Cellar and 2 large florals arrangements on wine barrels. Haydee did not want to forget any detail including packaging each and every cherry blossom green tea favour herself and hand-foiling her place cards.
I loved being inspired by these two and loved going back and fourth between all the decor ideas and even sitting down with them and their supportive families for tasting and floral meetings. One of my favourite moments of the wedding day was during the Kissing Game, the couple were asked to do a Titanic kiss and they did it (with absolutely no awkwardness whatsoever), you could just see how in love and in sync they were with one another. I am so happy for this fabulous couple and wish them a million more “Titanic kisses” as they step into married life!
